A new bill was placed on the Knesset table and will be advanced in the Knesset’s winter session, during which it is expected to reach the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. The purpose of the proposal submitted by MK Roy Folkman, chairman of the “Kulanu” faction, is to establish a new distribution model for benefits paid to reservists by the National Insurance Institute.
The new model is expected to improve the current conditions. Under current law, the compensation given to a part-time worker for reserve duty was calculated according to his income in the last three months divided by 90 work days.
In practice, the current calculation model harmed a part-time worker because he worked less than 90 work days in three months in view of the nature of his work. Thus, in the calculation of the National Insurance benefit, the income calculated per workday was lower than the real wage per day he would earn from his reserve duty .
According to the amendment promoted by MK Folkman, the calculation will be based on a total wage divided by the actual working days of the reserve duty rather than over 90 days, in such a way that the actual calculation of the actual working day will be the basis for calculating the National Insurance Institute’s reserve benefit, Three full months’ work.
